Jeff Foust
http://www.futron.com/Jeff Foust is a senior analyst and project manager with the Futron Corporation of Bethesda, Maryland, where he has worked since late 2001. In his job he investigates current conditions and future trends in domestic and foreign commercial, civil, and military launch industries and related markets, including emerging fields like personal spaceflight and smallsats. He manages a range of projects for commercial and government customers, including the FAA Office of Commercial Space Transportation, the Operationally Responsive Space Office, and various launch services, satellite manufacturing, and other space services companies.
In addition, Jeff also operates a number of space-related web sites. He is the editor and publisher of The Space Review, a leading weekly online publication with essays and articles about space policy, commercialization, exploration, and other issues. He is also the editor of The Space Review, a weekly. In addition, he maintains Spacetoday.net, a space news aggregator; Space Politics, a space policy blog; and Personal Spaceflight, a commercial spaceflight blog.
Jeff earned a Ph.D. in planetary sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999 and a B.S. with honors in geophysics and planetary science from the California Institute of Technology in 1993. He was a member of Caltech SEDS from 1989 to 1993, serving as the chapter's president in 1991-2, and a member of MITSEDS from 1993 to 1999. He was on the SEDS-USA national board for several years in the early and mid 1990s, including a term as National Co-Chair in 1992-3 and Director of Finance from 1993 through 1996.
