Telecom Subsystem Lead, Dragonfly
Johns Hopkins APL
Matt Shannon is an RF Communications engineer for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (Laurel, MD). He currently serves as the Telecom Subsystem Lead for Dragonfly, a NASA mission sending a car-sized spacecraft to Saturn’s organic-rich moon Titan. Once there, the rotorcraft will fly between landing sites on Titan’s surface to advance our understanding of the chemical origins of life. Prior to Dragonfly, Mr. Shannon was the Deputy Telecom Lead and RF Hardware Lead for DART, the NASA mission that successfully impacted the asteroid Dimorphos in 2022, demonstrating that a kinetic impactor can successfully deflect the orbit of an asteroid.
