These awards recognize the students and alumni driving SEDS forward. Winners are announced at the SpaceVision 2026 Gala.
Jeff Bezos Award

The Jeff Bezos Award recognizes an innovative, forward-thinking student leader who promotes new ideas and shapes the future of their SEDS chapter and the space industry through bold thinking and long-term impact.
It is awarded each year to one student who has proven themselves as a leader at the local chapter level and in the wider space industry — someone who works tirelessly for their chapter and community, plans for the long term, and aims high.
Criteria
- Must be a current SEDS USA member
- Must demonstrate the unique ideas and local chapter impact that make them deserving of the award

Todd B. Hawley Award

The Todd B. Hawley Award recognizes a student who has shown exceptional commitment and community-driven leadership to SEDS and the broader space community through service, collaboration, and dedication — reflecting the legacy of our co-founder Todd B. Hawley.
Hawley also co-founded the International Space University (ISU), served as its first chief executive officer, and was a faculty member in the Space Humanities Department. He was a lifelong advocate of human space exploration until his death in 1995 at the age of 34.
Criteria
- Must be a current SEDS USA member
- Must demonstrate impact at both the local and national level of SEDS in a 250–500 word statement

Galaxy Achievement Award

The Galaxy Achievement Award honors recent alumni who are already making their mark on the industry — graduates taking on demanding projects and driving them forward in a serious way. Winners are invited to speak at the SpaceVision 2026 Gala.
Criteria
- Recent graduate, within four years of graduation
- Must be a SEDS USA alumnus
- A 250–500 word statement describing your current position and how your SEDS experience prepared you for the role
